World Environment Day Celebration

Every year on June 5th, the Siliguri Nature Help Welfare Organisation organizes a grand event to mark World Environment Day. The event includes awareness campaigns, seminars, and interactive workshops with environmental experts to educate the community about the importance of protecting the environment. A major highlight is the community clean-up drive in public parks, riversides, and forest areas, which engages students, volunteers, and locals. Additionally, eco-friendly products, such as reusable bags and bamboo-based items, are distributed to promote sustainable living.

World Elephant Day Celebration

On August 12, Siliguri Nature Help Welfare Organisation proudly observes World Elephant Day, dedicated to raising awareness about elephant conservation. The event includes educational workshops, awareness rallies, and interactive sessions on mitigating human-elephant conflicts. Volunteers and experts collaborate with the Forest Department to promote safe migration routes and sustainable coexistence strategies. Join us in our mission to protect these majestic creatures and ensure a future where elephants roam freely in their natural habitats.

Wildlife Conservation Day Campaign

To commemorate World Wildlife Conservation Day on December 4th, the organization holds educational sessions and photo exhibitions to highlight the importance of protecting biodiversity and endangered species in the Himalayan region. The event includes guided nature walks and tours to wildlife sanctuaries like Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary. Conservationists and researchers are invited to share insights on mitigating human-wildlife conflicts and preserving the habitats of endangered animals, such as the red panda and elephants.

Biodiversity Awareness Week

This week-long event focuses on celebrating and preserving the rich biodiversity of the Siliguri region. Activities include birdwatching sessions, biodiversity quizzes for students, and workshops on creating eco-friendly habitats like butterfly gardens and ponds. The event also promotes the use of organic farming practices and educates farmers on conserving pollinators. A biodiversity exhibition showcasing native flora and fauna is a key attraction, aiming to instill a sense of pride and responsibility toward local biodiversity.

Tree Plantation Drive

The organization conducts an annual Tree Plantation Day during the monsoon season to restore green cover in and around Siliguri. Volunteers, students, and members of the community participate in planting native saplings in deforested areas, schools, and public parks. The event also features a “Tree Adoption Program,” where participants pledge to nurture the saplings they plant. Over the years, this initiative has significantly contributed to reducing soil erosion and improving air quality in the region.

Save The Endangered Species Campaign

As part of the organization’s ongoing mission, an annual campaign is held to protect endangered species in the region. The event includes interactive sessions with local wildlife experts to discuss pressing issues such as illegal poaching and habitat destruction. Awareness rallies are conducted, urging the public to actively support conservation efforts. The campaign also works closely with local authorities to promote anti-poaching laws and ensure stricter monitoring of wildlife reserves. A fundraiser is organized during this event to support rescue and rehabilitation efforts for endangered animals.
